The meeting was called to order by Barbara Carroll at 6:00 p.m.

A. Roll Call/Attendance by Mary Blair

B. Opening Remarks

City of New Haven Chief Administrative Officer Robert Smuts discussed prospective efforts to fund and hire a part-time coordinator for a maximum of 19 hours per week.

In the meantime, Brenda Pantelis will assist with copies of notes and posting of minutes to the website. Questions posed to Mr. Smuts included whether the Executive Board will have a role in the hiring of the new coordinator and who will help the new coordinator with training. Case reports will now be managed by Captain Peterson and Barbara Carroll.

C. Approval of Agenda

Motion to accept agenda made by Mary Blair, seconded by Cathy Gootkin; unanimous approval.

D. Coordinator's Report

The Coordinator’s Report will now be referred to as the Internal Affairs Report in the future.

E. Internal Affairs (IA) Remarks

Captain Joanne Peterson provided information on training for the Police Academy Class and solicited names of board members interested in participating. Regarding the reading of closed cases, Captain Peterson remarked that someone is available in Internal Affairs during the evening or on Saturdays upon request and mutual schedule coordination.

G. Subcommittee Reports

Board of Police Commissioners: Evelise Ribeiro spoke about the Board.
Nacole: Shirley W. Washington spoke of an October meeting to be held in Texas.
Policy and Procedure Committee: Maureen O’Sullivan will reschedule another meeting.
*It was noted that sub-committee minutes will be attached to CRB minutes.
A question was raised regarding Board members’ need to fill out an annual disclosure form.
Attorney Roderick Williams from corporation counsel agreed to research the matter.

H. Unfinished Business

A question was posed regarding the absence of the coordinator from City Hall: what happens to a resident who approaches the Civilian Review Board office door in City Hall – to whom are they to be directed?
Barbara Carroll will speak with CAO Robert Smuts for answers.
